Q: Are you bonded and insured?
A: Yes, everyone who works for My Favorite Pet Sitter is bonded and insured. Most of the sitters are also trained in pet first aid and CPR.
Q: How much notice do you need?
A: For new clients, we need at least 3 days notice in order to schedule a consultation visit. For existing clients, we can usually schedule a pet sitter with less time, however more notice is always preferred.
Q: Can I meet the sitter before I leave?
A: Yes, we will come to your home to meet you and your pets and get instructions about what you want us to do. The consultation visit is free. If an additional visit is needed, it will be charged as a regular visit. During the consultation visit, two (tested) copies of your key (one is kept as an emergency backup) and full payment are required.
Q: Do you charge more for additional pets?
A: No, however we do charge for additional time spent. So if the additional pets require more time to care for, then the cost will be more.
Q: Do you charge more for holidays?
A: Yes, we charge time-and-a-half for major holidays:
4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (after 5pm), Christmas Day, New Years Eve (after 5pm), and New Years Day.
Q: Do you have experience giving shots to diabetic pets?
A: Yes, some of us have experience doing this and you can request a sitter who has this experience.
Q: Can I get updates on how my pets are doing?
A: Yes, we can call or email you with periodic updates if requested. Otherwise, we will not disturb your relaxing vacation unless there is a problem or we have a question. You are also able to contact the sitter while you're gone.
Q: Do you stay overnight?
A: Yes, we offer overnight visits, which are 12 hours, usually from 7pm to 7am or 8pm to 8am. If you want to be sure to get a sitter, be sure to book early. Also, there is a 14-day cancellation policy for overnight visits.
Q: Do you board pets in your home?
A: No, this requires separate insurance and we are not set up for this service.
Q: Can I request a particular sitter?
A: Yes, however the sitter that is assigned will depend on your location, the sitter's availability, and what expertise is needed. We try to assign each client a primary and secondary sitter.
Q: Do you provide any housesitting services, such as bringing in mail and watering plants?
A: Yes, we provide such services as well as putting out trash cans, bringing in newspapers, and turning lights on/off.
Q : What is your cancellation policy?
A: For regular visits, our cancellation policy is 48 hours. For overnight visits, it is 14 days. For notice less than half of this period, we retain the full amount, otherwise you will receive half of your payment back. For instance, if you cancel a regular visit with less than 24 hours, you will not receive a refund; if you give a notice between 24 and 48 hours, you'll receive half back; and if you give notice of 48 hours or more, you'll receive a full refund.
Q: How do I get my key back?
A: We give you the option of having your key returned or kept secured for future visits. When you return from your trip, you can contact us to return your key. The first key return is free. If you use us again in the future, you would incur a key pick-up and a key drop-off fee.

"You do beautiful work. We have your brochure and cards in the important places in our house, and I am sure that this type of situation is preferable to Turtle as she winds down her life. I know that for myself, I am comfortable knowing that whenever we take advantage of your services we have the best we can get for her. Thank you so very much."

Sue was terrific! Our cat is very fearful of strangers and Sue was perfect with her. We experienced a health-related emergency which extended our stay. Sue took on the added responsibilities and kept us informed - always offering extra help should we need it. We couldn't say enough about her. She is "Aunt Sue" when we talk to our cat about her. During a difficult time, Sue gave us a place of peace about our special furry person. We are so appreciative!"

"I'm very happy with the service. Darryl seems so calm and happy and I appreciate the brushing. I knew by his initial reaction to Janet that he would be comfortable with her - he loved her immediately! She certainly has the touch with cats!"

"The cats were much friendlier upon returning home, not like normal which is to hide for half a day. I liked the fact that you could adjust your schedule to accommodate my schedule change."
